As the Director for International Engagement in the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA), Chris' role includes campus-wide assessment of student learning outcomes from study abroad, faculty-led program development for the Weber Honors College, and outreach about study abroad programs and scholarships to SDSU students.
Chris’ undergraduate international experiences in Japan, Guatemala, and Venezuela, motivated her to return to Venezuela on a Fulbright research grant to study Ecology, and then earn a Master’s in International Education from the SIT Graduate Institute. Since then, she has worked in the International Education field as an on-site program coordinator, a study abroad advisor, and a regionally-based representative for an international education organization. In 2009, she was awarded a Rotary World Peace Fellowship, for which she completed a Master’s in International Relations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and fieldwork in Northern Ireland. She has led groups of SDSU students to Mexico, Finland, Costa Rica, Bali, and Japan. In addition to traveling, she is an avid cyclist, musician, and foreign language enthusiast.
Fiorella Morales is the Graduate Assistant for International Engagement in the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA). Fiorella is available on a walk-in basis for students of the Compact Scholars Program and Weber Honors College to answer questions about study abroad scholarships and searching for study abroad programs that will fulfill study abroad requirements.
Fiorella is a Gates Millennium Scholar, McNair Scholar, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of San Diego. During her undergraduate experience she studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, and also had the opportunity to travel throughout western europe. After her study abroad experience, she continued her relationship with her French host university as an intern in their San Diego office, where she provided the staff and students with support for study abroad in their many programs. At SDSU, she is pursuing a Masters in Post-secondary Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Student Affairs, with the intention of pursuing a career in International Education. In 2017, she returned to France as a International group leader for US high school students with the Experiment in International Living and will be joining them again in Summer 2018. In addition to traveling, Fiorella has a passion for, cooking, learning new languages, spending her time with her loved ones, and exploring new places in San Diego.
