As the Director for International Engagement in the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA), Chris' role includes campus-wide assessment of student learning outcomes from study abroad, faculty-led program development for the Weber Honors College, and outreach about study abroad programs and scholarships to SDSU students.
Chris’ undergraduate international experiences in Japan, Guatemala, and Venezuela, motivated her to return to Venezuela on a Fulbright research grant to study Ecology, and then earn a Master’s in International Education from the SIT Graduate Institute. Since then, she has worked in the International Education field as an on-site program coordinator, a study abroad advisor, and a regionally-based representative for an international education organization. In 2009, she was awarded a Rotary World Peace Fellowship, for which she completed a second Master’s in International Relations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and fieldwork in Northern Ireland. She has led groups of SDSU students to Mexico, Finland, Costa Rica, Bali, and Japan. In addition to traveling, she is an avid cyclist, musician, and foreign language enthusiast.
