International Engagement Director

As the Director for International Engagement in the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA), Chris' role includes campus-wide assessment of student learning outcomes from study abroad, faculty-led program development for the Weber Honors College, and outreach about study abroad programs and scholarships to SDSU students.

Chris’ undergraduate international experiences in Japan, Guatemala, and Venezuela, motivated her to return to Venezuela on a Fulbright research grant to study Ecology, and then earn a Master’s in International Education from the SIT Graduate Institute. Since then, she has worked in the International Education field as an on-site program coordinator, a study abroad advisor, and a regionally-based representative for an international education organization. In 2009, she was awarded a Rotary World Peace Fellowship, for which she completed a second Master’s in International Relations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and fieldwork in Northern Ireland. She has led groups of SDSU students to Mexico, Finland, Costa Rica, Bali, Japan, and Greece. In addition to traveling, she is an avid cyclist, musician, and foreign language enthusiast.

International Engagement Coordinator

As the Coordinator for International Engagement in the Division of Academic    Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA), Fiorella's role includes working  closely with Chris on the development of faculty-led study abroad opportunities for  the Weber Honors College and Compact Scholars Program. Her role also includes  student advising and outreach on all DAESA faculty-led programs, study abroad  requirements, and financial aid and scholarship resources.

Fiorella's international experience as an undergraduate in Aix-en-Provence, France sparked her interest in international education and leadership field which led her to pursue her M.A in Post-Secondary Educational Leadership at SDSU where she worked for two years as a Graduate Assistant in International Engagement for DAESA. She has also led immersion experiences for high school youth as an International Group Leader and Facilitator for World Learning in the Youth Ambassadors Program in Chile and Argentina as well as The Experiment in Southern and Eastern France, and Germany. Fiorella enjoys cooking new foods, building on her language skill set, and discovering new places at home and abroad.
